Russian Art Focus met with Andrey Blokhin and Georgy Kuznetsov, artists from Krasnodar who formed the Recycle Group in 2008.
The Recycle Group kicked off their career with the idea of recycling art. Gradually combing through the history of art, the artists "recycled" artworks from various eras, including the Renaissance, and ultimately turned towards the future. In their sculptures and installations, enhanced by augmented reality objects and figures, the duo explores similarities and differences among spiritual, material and virtual words; eternal life, fragility and the freedoms people have online.
Their personal project “Conversion” in Sant’ Antonin’s church was part of the official program of the Venice Biennale in 2015. In 2016 they won the Special Prize of Arte Laguna Art Prize "Festivals & Exhibitions''. The artists were selected to represent Russia at the Venice Biennale in 2017.
