Liza Bobkova: I want to be at the edge of my capabilities

Liza Bobkova (b. 1987, Ostrov, Russia) is a multidisciplinary artist and curator. She works with metal installations and sculptures, as well as graphics. Liza graduated from Saint Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design with a degree in metal processing.  She is also founder and curator of the TUPIK art fair at the ART4 Museum of Contemporary Art, founder of ART4 gallery in London. Today she lives and works in Moscow and London.

Art Focus Now met Liza in her Moscow studio, and she showed us her latest art book “Liza Bobkova. I am here”, recently issued as part of the publishing program of art collector Denis Khimilyaine. This catalogue comprises Liza’s works from the last five years and is an art project itself. Also Liza told us about her studying at the artistic metalworking department of the Stieglitz Academy, why she does not like sculptures on pedestals, and how she wrote 73 letters to her social media followers.
