Irina Petrakova was born in 1981 in Siberia in the city of Ust-Ilimsk. Now she lives and works in Moscow. In 2011 Petrakova graduated from the Institute for Problems of Contemporary art founded by Joseph Bakstein. In 2014 she finished Anatoly Osmolovsky’s institute for contemporary art BAZA. Petrakova uses different media such as objects and installations, performance, graphic art and painting. We met with the artist in her studio, a sacred space where her art is being created. Irina told us about how to cancel the skill of classic drawing, how to react to criticism and what why would a human lick the fur.
